Our Philosophy of Healthcare The The Concept: In a non-emergent setting, technology can improve healthcare outcomes. It is neither practical nor prudent to practice 21st century medicine using 20th century technology. You can use traditional clinical skills to initiate a health evaluation; however, diagnostic testing can assist in directing treatment. For example, cough, wheezing, and shortness of breath may be pneumonia. An antibiotic may improve this condition. On the other hand, these symptoms may indicate heart failure for which a quick fix with antibiotics would not solve the problem. Performing and EKG, X-ray and CT scan, may mean a different diagnosis and outcome. The Technology: What is state of the art technology? 64 slice CT scan, Dual head nuclear medicine camera, ultrasound complete pulmonary function testing, advanced exercise treadmill and computer based x-ray. This technology assists in making the diagnosis. With restrictions on spending, many physicians use professional judgment to evaluate patients. Low income patients are less likely to be offered advanced technology in their health assessment. However, those patients who are financially advantaged would be offered access to advanced testing to guide their treatment. Access to advanced technology should be available to all patients. The Projected Outcome: Advanced imaging makes it possible to address serious issues thoroughly.
